So, continuing our journey across space. It's limitless with it's hidden jewels that aren't visible from the naked eyes right at home. We could see them up close through a telescope but that wouldn't be enough still. We aren't at home though, we're outside of it now. We're far beyond what any human has left.
Looks like space isn't just stars and rocks but has more to it than what we saw from home. This looks like home but can we call it home? Can it be called Earth 2.0? Probably not since Earth is the only planet known in the entire Universe that could keep us alive. This new Earth like planet seems peaceful and sufficient to be called home though, don't you think? Ah, you're mistaken, those looks can fool you. Underneath that atmosphere holds the truth.
Space is treacherous place with many secrets lurking out there, floating waiting to be unmasked. The stars we see aren't always what we see. They can deceive us just like that gorgeous planet. The inside is another story. Let's have a closer look then, shall we?
Oh dear, that doesn't doesn't seem right. Where's the life, where's the water, where's the home? It's been a mistake, this can't be home at all. Have a look even closer, Earth isn't like this.
Oh my...this isn't home indeed. This beast has been unmasked. It's no safe haven, it's a lifeless violent planet that doesn't deserve to be called home. Space is truly perilous, from a distance it's a peaceful relaxing place. Yet up close the reality is another, truths that will make us think twice about wanting to stay in space.
As I was reading my book Apollo 13 I got to see how dangerous is to work up in space. It's complicated because even a calculation can make a huge difference between life and death to the astronauts on board. A tiny mistake will lead to huge consequences such as the possibility the astronauts not coming home. The following quote from the book made me clinch the book hard, the suspense killing me inside, it goes, , "Racing against the dying tank Lovell tore a blank sheet of paper out of a flight plan and fished a pen out of the upper-arm pocket of his flight suit...Could he perform the calculations properly? Would his ciphering be correct? 3 times 5 is 15, isn't it? 175 minus 82 is 93, isn't it? With the clock ticking down and so much riding on these rudimentary calculations, Lovell all at once found himself doubting his ability to add and subtract" (Lovell. Kluger 130). Here, there's a malfunction with the Apollo 13 mission so the people in charge are desperately trying to solve the problem before anything worse. As one could tell right off the bat, these people were in a dire situation, not something they want to be in. The Apollo 13 mission has sown us how dangerous it can be when one works with instruments outside in space. Any simple mistake can take the astronauts on a perilous journey
Reflection: Well as I've been reading my book I seem to be a lot more focused in my reading. Awhile back it was pretty rough for me to stay on my book but now that I've been reading routinely, I seem to be a lot more focused than before. This in the long run will benefit me when it comes to do other types of readings.
